Product detailed description

This fixture was developed by COMTES FHT a.s. for performing dynamic tensile tests on both metallic and non-metallic materials. The design is based on Utility Model No. 37540, which protects the principle of integrating strain gauges directly into the body of the clamping jaw, in close proximity to the test specimen. This configuration significantly reduces the influence of elastic waves and structural deformations of the testing machine, resulting in a stable and smooth force signal even under extreme dynamic conditions. Each jaw is equipped with four strain gauges connected in a Wheatstone bridge, which provides bending compensation and precise force measurement along the longitudinal axis.

Main Advantages

  • Elimination of force signal oscillations at high strain rates
  • Suitable for testing plastics, rubbers, and other non-metallic materials
  • Easy specimen mounting and replacement without repeated calibration
  • Design enables accurate strain measurement using optical cameras (DIC)
  • Compatible with induction heating while maintaining optical accessibility
  • Applicable to both drop-weight towers and servo-hydraulic testing machines

Applications

  • Calibration of material models (Abaqus, LS-DYNA, AutoForm, CrachFEM)
  • Research on strain-rate sensitivity of materials
  • Crash and impact testing of automotive components
  • Development and characterization of new metallic and polymeric materials
  • Applications in the automotive, energy, aerospace, and defense industries
